Dall's Porpoise

The Dall's Porpoise live and play in the Northern Pacific waters, and are a welcome sight in the Salish Sea (the native name for the Pacific inland waters). This robust little creature is a fast swimmer, even though it is not as streamlined as the Dolphin. Look inside, you will see other Salish Sea residents. The Belted Kingfisher and the Pigeon Guillemot are on the look out for small fish, along with the Double crested Cormorant and the Black Oystercatcher. Swimming in the same waters are also Humpback, Gray, and Minke Whales together with the Sea Otter, Harbor Porpoise and spy hopping Orca. This is a rich and beautiful environment, from the nutritious Eelgrass to the elusive giant Octopus. This piece has been inspired by the Whale Museum in Friday Harbor, Washington State. Their mission is promoting stewardship of whales and the Salish Sea ecosystem through education and research. To learn more, visit thier web site on my links page.
